A 20″x16″ painting from the 1960s, casein on plexiglas, was the basis of a 8 by 13 foot Scanamural created in 1978. In the fall of 2008 I cropped a 4 by 3 foot section from the center of the Scanamural, stretched it on a 48″x24″ stretcher, and overpainted it. The first image shows the untouched stretched canvas. The next five images show stages during overpainting. The work transformed from a microorganism to a cosmological big bang.
